Elected Member of Parliament Sam Rainsy, who is also the leader of
Cambodia's second largest political party, is starting today a
five-day visit to Scandinavia.

On April 8, Sam Rainsy will be in Denmark where he will meet with
parliamentarian colleagues at the Folketinget as well as high-ranking officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On Saturday, April 9, he will attend Khmer New Year celebrations with the Cambodian community in Copenhagen.
On April 10 and 11, he will be in Norway, visiting the relatively large Cambodian community in Kristiansand, before heading to Oslo where he will be meeting with political leaders from the major parties, Members of Parliament at the Storting, especially members of the Foreign and Defense Committee, government officials, and the Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights, which has been very supportive of Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
On April 12 and 13, he will be in Sweden paying visits to the Riksdagen (Swedish Parliament) where an important meeting will be held in his honor, the Ministry of International Cooperation, and the Olof Palme International Center.
The Sam Rainsy Party is affiliated with the London-based Liberal International (LI). Sister liberal parties are in power in Denmark and
in Sweden. In Norway, Labor is the ruling party with Venstre (Liberal) in the opposition. But in the three Scandinavian countries Sam Rainsy will be received by both ruling and opposition parties, which are all attached to the defense of democracy and human rights.
