SRP Women's Wing celebrates International Women's Day

Chief of SRP Women Wing MP Mu Sochua congratulates for a hundred of women who participant on the 100-year anniversary of International Women's Day at SRP Headquarters in Phnom Penh. She addresses that today we must honor the vital role that women ply in the development of our country. She added that it is a day for us to stand together, raise our voices and defend women's human rights.
Mu Sochua addresses that women's right whether economic, social, cultural, civil or political- have equal status. The state is obligated to create and enforce adequate standards that recognize this equality. She said that the Sam Rainsy Party believes that existing national policies tied with community action and the protection and recognition of the most basic human rights should align to establish a foundation for the protection of women's rights. She said gender empowerment exists through strengthening and promoting increased political participation, equal access to economic opportunities, increased access to healthcare, access to justice and stronger enforcement of policies on prevention of violence against women.
Mu Sochua addresses that SRP Women's Wing will launch moving forward women for women, a two year action plan with clear goals and objectives to promote and support women candidates to run for office. She added that it is SRP commitment to gender equality and development that brings positive change for women.
